Math 6

Course Overview

This year students will build on the foundation they have already developed in math. They will deepen those foundations and work to develop higher-level thinking and become more competent in previously learned skills.

When students complete Math 6 they will demonstrate competency in volume, constructing and identifying angles, transformations, probability, factors, ratios and more.  Throughout the course, students will engage in games and projects relating to the topics they have covered. They will discover the Indigenous people’s connection to Math and some of their traditional games.

Open and continual communication between student and teacher is a key component to students being successful in this course. The course is assessed using the Mastery Math Method, where students work to demonstrate mastery before moving to a new topic.

Time Commitment:

This course consists of 12 chapters and each chapter varies in length of 2 to 6 lessons. Each lesson is approximately 12-15 minutes of video teaching and after which students are expected attempt the practice questions.
