Level 2 - Lower Intermediate ESL

Course Overview

This course is designed to provide students with the acquisition of the English language at a grade 8-9 level and an understanding of Christian worldview, Cambridge Standards, Canadian culture through interactive communicative tasks that include Canadian content, provide cultural awareness, and model Christian values. To support the transition students into BC schools and their inclusion into and contribution to the ongoing development of Canadian society.

Details

The course includes 20 lessons covering the 4 language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking, that include proverbs, attractions and famous people to help ELL learners form connections with the course. Students can make a second attempt to improve their learning.

Student can practice their pronunciation with our advanced voice recognition and speech analysis tool. Students are able to improve their pronunciation, they are able to see, hear and practice the lesson’s vocabulary words and conversational phrases in context. Additionally they can record their own voices for comparison with the native English speaker.

Each course has a practice exam and a final exam which is timed and will take approximately 100 hours to complete.

Levels 1, 2, and 3 offer cultural versions in Spanish, Korean and Chinese, include proverbs, attractions and famous people from that culture to help ELL learners form connections with the course.

The Academic version offers a variety of written assignments, discussion forums, journal entries, that would need to be marked by a certified teacher and give feedback to the student.

We offer a public school version in the Self Study and Academic versions.

  • Desktop or laptop computers work best for our courses. Smartphones and tablets don’t work consistently with our ESL courses, due to the flash animation features.
